PLA layout This course covers the design of digital logic in VLSI technologies, particularly CMOS technology. Topics covered include:
  1. CMOS device characteristics
  2. Creation and analysis of CMOS circuits
  3. Transistor sizing and logical effort
  4. CMOS layout
  5. Floorplanning; place-and-route
  6. Characterization and timing analysis
  7. Noise and power
  8. Process scaling
  9. Manufacturing test and design-for-test
After completing this course, students will be able to:
  1. Understand CMOS design principles and techniques for digital design
  2. Apply these principles and techniques to solve design problems
  3. Relate CMOS technology characteristics to larger system design issues
  4. Accept responsibility for personal and collaborative work

The textbook we will use is CMOS VLSI Design: A Circuits and Systems Approach, 4th edition, by Neil H. E. Weste and David Harris, ISBN 9780321547743.
