This course covers the design of digital logic in VLSI technologies, particularly CMOS technology. Topics covered include:
- CMOS device characteristics
- Creation and analysis of CMOS circuits
- Transistor sizing and logical effort
- CMOS layout
- Floorplanning; place-and-route
- Characterization and timing analysis
- Noise and power
- Process scaling
- Manufacturing test and design-for-test
After completing this course, students will be able to:
- Understand CMOS design principles and techniques for digital design
- Apply these principles and techniques to solve design problems
- Relate CMOS technology characteristics to larger system design issues
- Accept responsibility for personal and collaborative work
